2010-2011 Scholarship Applications Available Soon

Union Hospital Foundation scholarship applications will be available February 1, 2010. Applications may be downloaded from the "Scholarship Information" tab on the website or picked up from the Foundation office in Union Hospital East between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Many scholarships offered through Union Hospital Foundation are open to all community members while some are only available to Union Hospital employees and their children. All scholarship applications are due March 1, 2010.

Foundation Launches 2009 Friends of Union Hospital Annual Drive

In a caring community, individuals who have been blessed with good health and have enjoyed a measure of success in life can contribute to the growth of better health care for their friends and neighbors. In Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley, Friends of Union Hospital have the opportunity to support, in very meaningful ways, the efforts of Union Hospital to bring improved medical care to all of us.

While Union Hospital continues to improve patient care with its Union East expansion and with advances in medical technology and techniques, your gift to the Friends of Union Hospital's Annual Drive supports these efforts by providing much-needed equipment for Maternal and Child Services and Hux Cardiovascular Center.

Dr. Eric Bennett and Fred Bauer Receive Weinbaum & Baur Awards

Dr. Eric Bennett and Fred Bauer were recently presented with Union Hospital Foundation’s Weinbaum and Baur Awards, respectively.  The Weinbaum and Baur Awards, presented to two recipients annually, are the most prestigious honor given by Union Hospital Foundation. They were both honored for their leadership and contributions to Union Hospital and the patients it serves.

North, South Volleyball Raise $8,200 For Union Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Thursday, October 9th marked the last regular season home match for the Terre Haute South Braves Volleyball team. As well as honoring the team’s seniors that evening, Coach Steve Beeler and his team, along with Terre Haute North Patriots team captains and Coach Painter, took the opportunity to present a check for $8,200 to Union Hospital Foundation. The money raised was a result of their joint fundraising effort in an event structured around the annual cross-town rivalry on Friday, September 25th.

Eagle Riders Gift Over $2,500 to Clara Fairbanks Center for Women

On Saturday, September 12th the Eagle Riders of Terre Haute held a 170 mile bike ride to help support the early detection of breast cancer in the Wabash Valley. As a result of their ride, a dinner and auction that followed, the Eagle Riders presented a check to Union Hospital Foundation in the amount of $2,565 to be designated to the Clara Fairbanks Center Mammogram Assistance Fund.

Old National Bank Presents $50,000 Gift To Union Hospital Foundation For Capital Campaign

Today, in Union Hospital's Professional Office Building, Don Schroeder, Central Region CEO & Northwest Region President of Old National Bank, made the following announcement, "On behalf of our Old National Bank Foundation, I am honored to make this pledge of $50,000 to the Union Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign.  In partnering with Union Hospital, Old National continues to invest in the overall health and well being of the citizens of our community to insure that patients will continue to receive health care of the highest quality.

Union Hospital Foundation will be hosting a dinner for this year's recipients of the Weinbaum and Baur Awards at the Country Club of Terre Haute on October 13th.

The Weinbaum Award and the Baur Award were introduced in 1992 to recognize individuals who provide extraordinary leadership and contributions to Union Hospital and its mission.

Join the Fraternal Order of Eagles as they host this 170 mile motorcycle ride throughout the Wabash Valley. All proceeds benefit Union Hospital's Clara Fairbanks Center for Women's Mammogram Assistance Fund to help women detect the first signs of breat cancer and save lives. This special event has become a great adition to the Labor Day Weekend activities for local motorcycle riders.

First Financial Bank Gift Helps Union Hospital Foundation Surpass $8,000,000 Goal

Union Hospital's Professional Office Building was the setting as Norman L. Lowery, Vice Chairman and CEO of First Financial Bank, announced that First Financial Bank has made a gift pledge of $50,000 a year for five years to Union Hospital Foundation's Distinctive Past...Exceptional Future Capital Campaign. The $250,000 gift from First Financial Bank has helped the Union Hospital Foundation to reach and exceed their capital campaign goal of $8,000,000.
Union Hospital Foundation Golf Benefit to Provide $96,000 for Scholarship Fund

The Country Club of Terre Haute was the setting for the 22nd Annual Union Hospital Golf Benefit on Friday, June 5, 2009 as 152 golfers enjoyed perfect weather and fantastic course conditions to help Union Hospital Foundation earn $96,000 for its Scholarship Reserve Fund. The $96,000 in net proceeds was an all-time high for the outing and surpassed last year's total by $15,000.
Oakley Foundation Grants $250,000 To Union Hospital's Capital Campaign

Union Hospital Foundation is one step closer to obtaining its goal of $8,000,000 for their Distinctive Past...Exceptional Future Capital Campaign thanks to an extremely generous gift from the Hollie & Anna Oakley Foundation. At a media conference this morning in Union Hospital's Professional Office Building the following announcement was made by Alice Anne Perry, President of the Oakley Foundation, "I am so pleased to be here this morning and to present, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Hollie and Anna Oakley Foundation, this grant to Union Hospital in the amount of $250,000 for the Union Hospital Distinctive Past...Exceptional Future Capital Campaign".
Union Hospital Foundation Announces Scholarship Recipients

The Landsbaum Center was the location of Union Hospital Foundation's Scholarship Reception last evening where nearly $30,000 in scholarships were awarded to 26 individuals from the Wabash Valley and beyond. The scholarships provide opportunity for students seeking careers in health care such as nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy and other academic majors.

Jim Bertoli, Executive Director of Union Hospital Foundation, made the following comments at the reception, "Scholarships are part of Union Hospital Foundation's mission and are made possible by the generous gifts of our donors.
Union Hospital Foundation Names Director of Development

Union Hospital Foundation has increased its staff size with the naming of Jackie Gustafson as their Director of Development. As the Director of Development, Gustafson will be involved with all fundraising initiatives and activities of the Foundation. Gustafson comes to Union Hospital Foundation after serving as the Assistant Director of Development for Indiana State University Foundation's Athletic Development staff since July of 2007.
