Old National Bank Presents $50,000 Gift To Union Hospital Foundation For Capital Campaign
08/27/2009

Today, in Union Hospital's Professional Office Building, Don Schroeder, Central Region CEO & Northwest Region President of Old National Bank, made the following announcement, "On behalf of our Old National Bank Foundation, I am honored to make this pledge of $50,000 to the Union Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign.  In partnering with Union Hospital, Old National continues to invest in the overall health and well being of the citizens of our community to insure that patients will continue to receive health care of the highest quality.   In the past year, Old National has donated over $1 million and over 40,000 volunteer hours to community based organizations like Union Hospital that share our philosophy.  Our mission statements are similar - both organizations strive to consistently meet and exceed their client's expectations.  With this donation, Old National is proud to be part of Union Hospital's success as they continue to provide progressive and compassionate health care services to all citizens of the Wabash Valley."

Old National Bank Foundation's gift to Union Hospital Foundation's Distinctive Past..Exceptional Future Capital Campaign brings the campaign total to over $8,170,000, which will help complete the $185,000,000 hospital expansion and renovation project.

Scott Teffeteller, Union Hospital Executive Vice President & C.O.O. responded to the gift by saying, "We all call the Wabash Valley home and want nothing but the best for our families, friends and employees.  Old National Bank is a leader in our community and has been a valued and important partner of Union Hospital and Union Hospital Foundation.  We thank them for this generous gift to our Distinctive Past...Exceptional Future Capital Campaign.  I am aware that Old National Bank Foundation's mission is to advance economic development, education, and the quality of life for the success of the communities they serve and that their vision is to be a partner in strengthening our communities by impacting lives. I can't think of a better way to impact the lives of so many people in the Wabash Valley than by supporting this important project.  On behalf of all of the hospital's stakeholders, I want to extend our sincere thanks to Old National Bank and Old National Bank Foundation."

Jerry Einstandig, Chair of Union Hospital's Capital Campaign responded to the gift presentation by saying, "I have a special affinity for Old National Bank for several reasons. I had the privilege of serving as a director of the bank for several years after the acquisition of Merchants National Bank, which had previously acquired the Indiana State Bank.  I mention the Indiana State Bank because we recently received an extremely generous gift from the Oakley Foundation and the Perry Family.  Alice Ann Perry's father was president of the Indiana State Bank for many years and invited me to become a member of their board of directors in 1992.  Then, Chuck Combs, President of Merchants National Bank invited me to continue serving as a director after Merchants acquired ISB. Chuck's grandfather, C.N. Combs had been the CEO of Union Hospital and so it is that Old National Bank is following the precedents established by these two institutions by investing generously in the continuing progress of the Terre Haute community and Union Hospital.  These historic ties to our community and the Wabash Valley make me proud of my affiliation with Old National Bank and its foundation.  Our campaign slogan, Distinctive Past...Exceptional Future, would also be appropriate for Old National Bank, which has also built on the success of its past and continues to be positioned to become on of the "Best in Class" in the nation, which is exactly what Union Hospital is striving to do with these state-of-the-art facilities.  Don, these philanthropic dollars are critical to completing, in a timely fashion, this once-in-a-lifetime project and we can't thank you and ONB enough for your generous gift."

The mission of the Union Hospital Foundation is to support advances in medical care that benefit the patients served by Union Hospital and initiatives that promote the health and wellness for those residents who live in the Wabash Valley.  The Foundation fulfills this mission by raising charitable gifts and grants, providing effective stewardship for gifts received and by awarding grants to Union Hospital and to select other organizations through which improvements in medical care and community health are realized. The Union Hospital Foundation receives charitable support from individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations who share the Foundation's vision for a healthy, vital community.
