Service League

Service League Logo

Volunteers have the opportunity to become members of the Service League of Union Hospital.  Members help patients, their families and the hospital staff with activities which supplement the hospital's services. You can make your spare time count for something special by volunteering.  As Service League members you experience satisfaction from assisting others, learn new skills, make new friends and add to the quality of life in the Wabash Valley.

Besides providing volunteer service to the hospital, the Service League plays a key role in raising money to purchase necessary equipment and services. Since its inception in 1953, the Service League has raised more than $2,000,000, which has been donated to the hospital through the Foundation.

Service League programs include Gift Shop operation, surgery hostess desk, surgery holding area, in-home volunteers and special events such as ice cream socials, book fairs and the Children's Classic Run.

Margaret Carroll Scholarship

The Margaret Carroll Scholarship is awarded annually to children of Union Hospital Health Group employees who attend or plan to attend an Indiana school as a full-time student. Applicants are required to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.

The application for the Margaret Carroll Scholarship offered by Union Hospital Service League is available on the "Scholarship Information" tab.

Children's Classic Run

The Children's Classic Run is an annual (September) one mile fun run that raises funds for Union Hospital's Pediatric Therapy Department.

Wish List Grants

The purpose of the Service League of Union Hospital, in part, is to promote the welfare of Union Hospital and to plan and implement various activities and fund-raising projects which are considered appropriate by the governing board of the hospital. Thus, we have worked with the Union Hospital Foundation to create a grant application procedure that closely follows its grants and awards format for granting wishes. If you have applied through the Foundation, you will note the same rules and regulations apply.

Below you will find a link to download the wish list application.

We will require all future requests to the Service League be handled in this manner. The form must be fully completed and include necessary signatures or it will not be considered. The wish list application will be reviewed by a committee with recommendations to its Board of Directors for approval. The submission of a Wish List Outcome Report following approval will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Service League. We now have a box in the mailroom for your convenience.
