Scholarship Information
Because of gifts from generous donors, Union Hospital Foundation is able to present nearly $30,000 in scholarships on an annual basis. While some scholarships are open to all community members meeting the eligibility requirements, other apply only to Union Hospital/Union Hospital Clinton/Hospice of the Wabash Valley employees and their children. See below for eligibility, requirements, and information on how to apply.

Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible for a Union Hospital Foundation Scholarship an applicant must:
- Be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited degree program at a college or university (some scholarships require enrollment in an accredited health care degree program)
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, if the applicant has completed one or more semesters of student at a college or university
- Demonstrate financial need
Requirements of Scholarship Recipients
A recipient of a Union Hospital Foundation scholarship must fulfill the following requirements during the academic year for which the student receives the scholarship:
- Remain enrolled in an accredited degree program (If applicant receives nursing or health care scholarship, must remain in nursing or health care degree program)
- Maintain the status of a full-time student, minimum of 12 credit hours per semester or the equivalent
- Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent

Nursing Scholarships
Open to community members and Union Hospital/Union Hospital Clinton employees and their children who meet the general eligibility guidelines as well as specified scholarship criteria.
The Dr. C.N. Combs Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Awarded to an Indiana State University student pursuing a registered nursing degree
The Wanita I. & Ernest E. Hinshaw Nursing Education Fund
Awarded to a student pursuing an advanced nursing degree or registered nursing degree from an accredited nursing education program
The Gertrude and Ralph Horton Grants-in-Aid for Nursing Education
Awarded to a student pursuing a registered nursing degree from an accredited nursing education program
The Mary Kay Holvey-Aust Nursing Scholarship (Not available 2010— 2011)
Awarded to an Indiana State University student pursuing a registered nursing degree
The Gladys N. Marvel, R.N. and Cecil B. Marvel Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Awarded to a student pursuing an advanced nursing degree or registered nursing degree from an accredited nursing education program
The Amanda Pugh Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Awarded to an Indiana State University student pursuing a registered nursing degree
The Michele Pantle Memorial Nursing Scholarships
Awarded to a working parent who is going back to school to pursue a degree in nursing from any school that uses Union Hospital as a clinical site
Health Careers
Open to community members and Union Hospital/Union Hospital Clinton/Hospice of the WV employees and their children who meet the general eligibility guidelines as well as specified scholarship criteria.
The John C. Figg and Jennie Figg Health Careers Scholarship
Awarded to a student pursuing a health career degree from an accredited education program
The Eleanor N. Royse Health Careers Scholarship
Awarded to a student pursuing a health career degree from an accredited education program
The Century Club Health Careers Scholarship
Awarded to a student pursuing a health career degree from an accredited education program
The Union Hospital Foundation Academic Scholarships
Awarded to a Union Hospital/Union Hospital Clinton employee or their child or a student enrolled in the health careers program through Vigo County School Corporation. Recipient must be entering college in the fall of the year for which the award is given.
Donna Hux Scholarship for Hospice
Awarded to employees of Hospice of the Wabash Valley or the children of Hospice employees pursuing further education in a qualified field of health care

The Brandon Bickers Memorial Scholarship For Student Athletes
Awarded to a current high school student who participated in interscholastic athletics and expects to enter a college or university in the fall of the current year. Student must have a cumulative g.p.a. of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale. Application available above.
The Frank & Linda Shelton Scholarship
Awarded to a Union Hospital/Union Hospital Clinton employee, or the child of an employee, who meets at least ONE of the following:
- Pursuing a master’s degree in health care administration at an accredited program
- Pursuing a degree in the B.A./M.D. program at Indiana State University
- Enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Indiana State University
- Has completed one or more semesters of undergraduate study with at least a 3.0 cumulative g.p.a. on a 4.0 scale
